About Gordon
"My goal is to have every finished photograph, whether landscape or glamour,
to be unique as when it was taken."
Photography
My love for photography began when I was a photographer for my high school yearbook. I continued this love and became a photographer for my college newspaper - this was back in the film days when you had to send everything to the lab! I continued taking pictures for a few years later, still using film.
My return to photography was after the digital age was upon us. I was using a point-and-shoot camera, but quickly outgrew this camera because I had started making my own wine… I needed to make my own wine bottle labels and the point-and-shoot wasn’t doing it.
I started taking classes at the Colorado Photography Arts Center in Denver and other institutions. I took many photography classes to improve my skills and continue to work on my photography skills with courses and workshops. My photography covers landscape, some abstract work, portrait, and glamour.
Wine Making
I have been making wine for about 10 years - it was the wine making that got me back into photography.
At first the wine I made was hardly drinkable. But as I developed my techniques and skills, I began to win more awards at competitions.
Nowadays, I am a boutique wine maker. I only make 27 bottles a year.
I buy wine kits from the vineyards, and the juice comes to me with the grapes crushed and having the stems removed - about 3 gallons of grape juice total. Aside from bottling, after purchasing the kit I do everything that professional wineries do.
